Can Wounded Christians Heal?

Posted by on September 30, 2011

This week has been one of the most difficult since I rededicated my life to my Creator. Once again my feelings have tried to confuse the truth that is designed to set me free. I can only imagine that there are so many of you who have the same struggle.

Our intentions do not always play out the way we have them mapped out in our minds. Our ideas can be rejected. Sometimes even the love that Jesus tries to reflect through us is rejected. Sometimes the actions of others, while not intended to hurt us… end up hurting us deeply.  Then such an occurance reminds us how broken we are and we seem to not know how to heal.  This has been my burden this week.

It is so very important that we recognize that Satan will never give up at seeking to create conflict among those who are dedicated to living for Him. Where there is to be unity, he seeks to create diversity. And so the shaking for many will cause a return to a focus on self instead of on Jesus.

Now having the knowledge of how to mend and heal is not enough. As with any sin problem…only application of God’s truths and gracious advice can speak to our hearts. Trusting and being faithful even in extreme adversity is a test that God allows. He must know that regardless of the rough terrain, we will not forsake Him, but cling to Him all the more.

Hearts ache for a variety of reasons. Life loss, harsh words spoken to one another, differences in opinion even when unity is sought, observing someone making choices that separate them from Christ … instead of bringing unity,,, and many more.

Philippians 4:4-7, 13   “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

“I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

This is an amazing and wonderful promise and it was the one that won my heart back to Christ as I sat in church listening to God calling me home.

Dear brothers and sisters; Be so very cautious as to not let the sun go down on your anger, your suffering and your disappointments.  Or even your own self unworthiness. Jesus does not want you to ignore His outreach to you and to every disheartened soul…of His healing power.  There is power in that blood He shed for us, but we must claim it!

We are not perfect. We error and make mistakes. Sometimes the same ones over and over and over… but God does not give up on us. He allows the opportunity for education and healing to return until we have claimed the victory and placed our full dependence upon Him.

I’m a slow learner. Just ask my parents or those who have remained my friends. But I will not give up! I must learn the ways that Christ instructs me with.

In this same vein… many have and do disregard the truth of Jesus because they cant’ do without. They lock themselves into their own theology. Not the Word of God. But only the “Truth” will set them free. That is why prayer is so powerful. We must lift each other up and seek healing for each other even in the face of adversity and feelings of despair that seek to overtake us. No prayer sent up to our amazing God goes unheard or unanswered. But we must let Him deal with such matters and not try to do the fixing ourselves. Giving it over in prayer and then taking it back, constricts and invalidates His power.

Trust and faith is not a feeling. We must learn to live outside of our feelings and be secure in what we know as the truth that God has provided us through His Word.  Satan is ever present to catch us off guard, to get us off track. He too is seeking to win souls. Souls that will seek to overtake what cannot be his.

Guard yourselves. Protect yourself with prayer and claiming the blood of Jesus that Satan is not allowed to penetrate. Over and over and over… Wounds need treatment during the healing process. Victory is not an illusion. It has already been won at the cross and is ours free to claim.

Surrender and claim!

God bless you … please continue to pray for me … and I will pray for you.
