Give Us This Day

Satan’s ploy over this world is one designed to ensnare us without our recognizing it. Slowly, but gradually many detour from God’s Word and the clearness of His Word which He freely reveals to us. Eventually, many find they have justified their actions regardless of how revealing God has made it that it is sin.

Christian writer, Ellen White had this to say.

“In this degenerate age many will be found who are so blinded to the sinfulness of sin that they choose a licentious life because it suits the natural and perverse inclination of the heart. Instead of facing the mirror of the law of God and bringing their hearts and characters up to God’s standard, they allow Satan’s agents to erect his standard in their hearts. Corrupt men think it easier to misinterpret the Scriptures to sustain them in their iniquity than to yield up their corruption and sin and be pure in heart and life. {AH 329.3}

There are more men of this stamp than many have imagined, and they will multiply as we draw near the end of time.{AH 329.4}

When Satan’s bewitching power controls a person, God is forgotten, and man who is filled with corrupt purposes is extolled. Secret licentiousness is practiced by these deceived souls as a virtue. This is a species of witchcraft…. There is always a bewitching power in heresies and in licentiousness. The mind is so deluded that it cannot reason intelligently, and an illusion is continually leading it from purity. The spiritual eyesight becomes blurred, and persons of hitherto untainted morals become confused under the delusive sophistry of those agents of Satan who profess to be messengers of light. It is this delusion which gives these agents power. Should they come out boldly and make their advances openly, they would be repulsed without a moment’s hesitation; but they work first to gain sympathy and secure confidence in themselves as holy, self-sacrificing men of God. As his special messengers they then begin their artful work of drawing away souls from the path of rectitude by attempting to make void the law of God. “{AH 330.1}

Victory is ours if we choose it. Whether it be lust, pride, self-gratification, arrogance, homosexuality or any other sin; we only need hand it over to God. Well some of you may be thinking… “Easy for you to say.”  When God convicted my heart and I laid my life at His feet as I knelt before Him confessing my sins, He began to give me strength to make decisions for Him. The goal on earth is not for everything to be easy, but to learn how to face challenges with the strength that God provides. Continually and clearly making decisions for Him and recognizing our destiny, rather than pleasuring ourselves in earth’s distractions and the temptations that Satan abundantly places before us.

You see, God doesn’t want us to just happen by heaven to see if we like it or not and then cultivate thoughts and decisions as Lucifer had done that sought to outwit and supersede the power and authority of God.  “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

I urge you to spend time with Him. Turn off the television and the radio and commune with God. Read His Word. Pour out your heart and let Him speak to you. It is in this stillness that you are able to determine that God is calling you to serve and obey Him. And with reason and clarity. With every passing moment dwelling in Him, you will discern truth, purpose and the reasons for doing His will instead of your own.  His love is magnificent. It is beyond any earthly pleasure or seemingly satisfying distraction. All of our earthly pleasures are temporary and have no permanent fulfillment that glorifies God.

Scared? Confused? Lacking boldness in decision?   Don’t worry… check out God’s promises.

Philippians 4: 13 promises this:  “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”  It is this promise that pulled me out of the much and mire of my earthly focus and drew me to Jesus Christ.  The victory is yours to claim!  He already paid for it and is offering it to you if you will accept it and take that first step of making a decision for Him.

Our God is an awesome God. He will leave no soul behind who truthfully desires to be in His presence.

Many blessings to each of you.
