Who Am I? An Identity Crisis!

Posted by on December 18, 2010

2 Corinthians 5:17 says that when I give myself  over to Jesus Christ, I am a New Creation in Him.  A new creation, has a new identity. A new creation is not chained to an old orientation.

In my study of God’s Word, there is nothing that gives me direction to live in an old orientation or a sinful orientation, but to die to sin and claim the new life Christ offers me. This would mean cutting myself off from the old and accepting the newness of life He offers and let Him guide and direct me from that blessed day of acceptance of my new life, forward.

This past week has been difficult in conversing about orientation. For some reason I am finding many, some who are not and never have been homosexual, giving way to claiming an identity in a homosexual orientation. But they had the word Christian to indicate the involvement of Christ.

To me, this is a diluted and misleading gospel. The true gospel of Jesus Christ draws us to Him and offers a new identity in Him.

A friend, not even knowing the frustration of the the dialog of my week, happened to send me this link. I believe Jesus knew how encouraging this would be.

If you are professing Christ, I encourage you to let nothing get in the way of the identity that is yours to claim. It’s a free gift. It breaks the chains that bind you to who you were and gives a joyful focus to who you now are.  Alive, trusting and claiming the New Life He has promised.  An ongoing dying and claiming of this New Life  is yours. The body of Christ is in you. 1 Corinthians 12: 27-28.

Don’t be deceived by clinging to any portion of your past, or by continuing to claim part of it as your future.

Please consider this amazing testimony to Jesus Christ.
