Not always freely spoken of after allowing Jesus to take charge of our lives, is temptation. Especially homosexual temptations.  Again, as many of you know, this would be the furthest concept considered by God’s people and the most likely to be scrutinized with much more severity when considered.

In order to give the glory to God that He so magnificently deserves, I believe that temptation is a necessary facet of our “Walking with Christ” experience. Without some discussion of this aspect of Christianity, we do a disservice to those struggling and a false impression to those considering that we have been magically and instantly healed.

I give all glory to God for all that He has done in my life and in the life of others who have had life-long significant sin problems. I must tell you that there is great power in claiming the VICTORY that Jesus has already won for you. “…for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”  1 John 5:4

There are many degrees of temptation. Often an ex smoker is momentarily tempted when passing someone who has just lit a cigarette. A diabetic with an intense appreciation for chocolate or other fine sweet delicacies is tempted, but knows the outcome if falling to temptation. Someone who has been an alcoholic remembers the numbing or relaxing effects of drinking and is face with a decision upon such consideration.

Today my life is focused on Jesus and my destiny. I am full aware that our time spent here is a only a speck when considering life eternal. So of significant importance is such consideration when faced with temptation and the penalty for not trusting.

I was rejected by my natural mother and birth and my first couple of  years were shaped and fashioned after the kind of treatment she gave me. Treatment that included injury.  So you might consider that I had an early disadvantage. God knows the circumstances of every one of our lives. This is in part a representation to Satan, that even those who are disadvantaged will still choose God over the deceptive options he so cleverly and abundantly provides.  My handicap was one that effected my feelings, but not my ability to choose.  I am no ones judge, but I believe that God having placed me in a Christian home and making available to me the truth of His teachings, provided me the opportunity to acknowledge and to choose, who and what would be in control of my life.

So much was not understood or even spoken of when I was young. The church never allowed the topic to surface. And the whisperings of my challenge in life only gave way to surmisement of my sinful condition. They cetainly never reached out to offer help or guidance.

Because Jesus knew my heart, I believe He purposefully hung on to me through my many years of seeking real love and physical affection. I, like most every other human being wanted a life mate. I wanted to be held and loved by someone who placed no judgement on me. I wanted to melt into the complete adoration and blazing passion and romance that seemed impossible due to my flawed, abnormal conditions.

God allowed me to go through the motions of thinking I was accepted by the gay community. But, truth be told, some of the strongest and most outrageous animosity is facilitated by those who seek to unite in their similarity with one another.

What the gay community provided were places of meeting for like minded individuals. But they were not meeting places that were conducive to wholesome living. They were places to drink and dance and seek one night flings. There were and are still today, multitudes of sex clubs whose only purpose is to provide fleeting, self indulgent passions to be dangerously expressed. There are and were parks where under the cover of trees and bushes, unthinkable acts were taking place in broad daylight. Not to mention the public rest rooms.  This is not characteristic of a single city, but of the entire world. Books are printed with detailed guides to anywhere in the world you might seek such encounters.

While such activities may not be appealing to all individuals, Satan has laid open yet another avenue to project his deception. Metropolitan Community Churches are sprinkled through out the nation. Some with pastors who have split from one denomination or another and others with self proclaimed leadership of congregations that still want to live by the golden rule, but not so much by God’s clear Word, instruction and command to us for obedience, thereby providing the allowance for one to be carefree and self directed in their pattern of living.

All this brought on upon us because Lucifier was unsatisfied with One God and One Truth. One who was and is ruler over all creation and life under the sun, moon and stars.  Lucifer, now Satan is given by God, an experience of seeking to deceive over thousands of years. Yet continually being proven to Satan is this. Even in the trials and conditions of adversity, there will still be a people who choose Jesus, accept His sacrifice for our sins, ask forgiveness, seek to do His will instead of our own and claim eternal life.

This is most significant in my claiming the identity that Jesus won for me. Laying claim to sin and temptation and conditions, points me and my wellness of being toward Satan.  But claiming the title of a New Creation in Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:17, places my focus on Jesus. Instead of separating me as some unique individual in the midst of all God’s believers as a “gay” individual, it includes me as one who has experienced sin, but is now “redeemed.”  Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ.

So how do I walk today? Hand in hand with Jesus. I am not safe for a split second without Him. Am I cured? Am I healed?  Healing is a process.   I have a desire to be loved. My senses have not gone dead. I recognize those who are attractive or possess a gentleness or even a strength of love and compassion that for a split second will try and deceive my senses. Is it truth simply because of a feeling tugging at my flesh? Absolutely not!   Jesus Christ was tempted and we are to live by His example as He came and lived a human life to provide is with a road map of how we are to live.   He dealt with His tempter by flatly refusing to worship him. It was an appalling concept. Jesus answers Satan with the words “Get thee hence,” “Be gone,” “Go away,” or in words we would use today; “Get out of here.” It is a strong rejection, that when followed, we are provided the strength and power of doing His will and finding power in the blood. Matthew 28:10

If you are heterosexual, know that temptation falls upon every sinner until the day of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  If you are a converted homosexual or gay individual, or one who still lives in the behaviors of a gay lifestyle; know that victory is yours as soon as you claim the VICTORY that Jesus won for you on the cross.  Claim it every day and every moment of your lives.  He died for you. He knew you before you were born. Don’t disappoint Him. Claim your heritage and know that one day, because of your faith and trust in Him, you will live eternally with Him and others who chose His truth over Satan’s deceptive feelings.

God bless

Want to be a SUPERHERO?

Posted by on January 27, 2011  |  No Comments

Life revolves around superheros. Or so it seems. When you were a kid you always looked up to someone or something. Cartoon characters, celebrity figures, the President of The United States, or maybe your pastor or even a relative.

Our attention in this culture seems to always be shifting toward someone. But being humble and seeking to do the will of God should really be our focus. Our life destiny is crucial to the knowledge we have, where we obtained it and whether or not it will hold up under personal crisis.

We live in crisis today. How are you holding up?

Christian author, E. G. White says this:  “The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.” 2 Timothy4:3.  That time has fully come. The multitudes do not want Bible truth, because it interferes with the desires of the sinful, world-loving heart; and Satan supplies the deceptions they love.

But God will have a people upon the earth to maintain the Bible, and the Bible only, as the standard of all doctrines and the basis of all reforms. …. Satan is constantly endeavoring to attract attention to man in the place of God. He leads the people to look to bishops, to pastors, to professors of theology, as their guides, instead of searching the Scriptures to learn their duty for themselves. Then by controlling the minds of these leaders, he can influence the multitudes according to his will.”  Great Controversy Pg 570-571

As I continue to grow each day in Jesus, I become more acutely aware of how important it is for me personally to search out truth for myself.  Not adopt a theory or see if what someone else is saying makes sense and buy into that, but to truly know from God’s Word what His truth is to me and what He wants me to do about it.

I am learning that by knowing my weaknesses, I have a responsibility to grasp God’s Word and claim it as my protection. It is truly a gift that He provided for us and it is powerful. The world is an enemy of scripture. There are deceptions every step of the way. We are seduced into laziness and comfort. A time will quickly come when many of us will realize that we wasted so much time that should have been spent in grounding ourselves in the truth our maker provided us.

It is my desire to share my personal testimony. One that results in focusing on the glory and power of Jesus Christ.  Consider your purpose and your destiny and then set a plan in place to gain knowledge and wisdom by first seeking God in prayer and then opening His Word and discovering the amazing lessons He has in store for you.  After you experience the personal time with Him, share with someone what He showed you. Tell them how you are listening to Him and letting Him guide and direct your life, instead of worldly influences.

You can trust Jesus and His Word. He never lets us down. He always knows what is best for us and will see us through. After you thoroughly trust Him, you will begin to have a powerful testimony to share with others. You will be a SuperHero for Christ.

“Temptations often appear irresistible because, through neglect of prayer and the study of the Bible, the tempted one cannot readily remember God’s promises and meet Satan with the Scripture weapons. But angels are round about those who are willing to be taught in divine things; and in the time of great necessity they will bring to their remembrance the very truths which are needed. Thus “when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”  Isaiah 59:19  Great Controversy pg 575

God is so patient with us. He loves us and provides a way for us to come to know and trust Him. Invite Him to come into your heart and start getting better acquainted today.

In God’s Eyes – His Will verses Human Logic

Posted by on January 25, 2011  |  No Comments

After thousands of years, God is still sending an important message to us about His will and our obedience. His Word and our honor, reverence and respect.  He has provided many stories and evidences of the results of disobeying Him and not honoring His guidance and direction to us. Yet even with all these examples, man still tries to out smart God. What and incredible danger we put ourselves in.

It was not long after creation and the presence of sin, that the effects of sin materialized. Disregard for God through the exaltation of self had brought about the casting out of Lucifer from Heaven. God then allowed Satan to try and act as a deterrent from truth and purity by manifesting temptation upon those who would be given the freedom of choice as to whom they would serve.

Eve was captured with desire.  A desire she had already been warned about. The serpent soon had her attention and quickly convinced her that there would be no consequences for her disregard, but promised her knowledge and life.  Pure evil disguised in beauty is telling Eve that she will gain knowledge to discern good and evil. A knowledge Christ had already given to her.  How ironic; as today we have many of the same scenarios of evil seeking to control us, by innuendos that we somehow know better than that of the printed Word of God. Or that we would be okay to twist something to better fit our choice of actions.

We all know the fate of Eve and what that what resulted has trickled down throughout all time. After leaving the garden, sin quickly reemerged in the story of  Cain and Able.  Here was yet another another example of  not honoring God.  Able, knowing of the offering required and having a high regard and honor for God, valued the importance of blood shed in the offering he made. He recognized the power in the blood.  He knew it had cost the life of an animal to hide the shame of nakedness which had been brought on by self indulgence.

Cain had little regard for God. He didn’t even bring the first fruits of His cultivated crops. He seemed to see his offering to be of little significance and in God’s pleasure over Abel’s offering, Cain was inflamed with anger and quickly had the bloodshed of  His brother on His hands.

Later in the Old Testament, God made abundantly clear, His protocol for presenting a burnt offering.  He provided the stipulations and yet Aaron’s sons took it upon themselves to change the protocol without God’s guidance and were possibly intoxicated when doing so. Something God strictly forbid. They were immediately destroyed due to their disobedience.

Throughout history we are given examples of divine instruction as well as the consequences for disobedience and yet we continue to try and bend and twist the Word of God to fit our desires and circumstances and even assume that this will be okay with God. How incredibly daring and disrespectful. Satan must gloat over his accomplishments.

The key obstacle in all disobedience was in history and remains today, the immense value many place on feelings over truth.  Our feelings can be influenced by a number of denominators.  They can be influenced by God and they can be influenced by the sly, clever and sometimes unnoticeable wiles of Satan. In order to overturn God’s universe, Satan seeks to saturate us with his brilliant ideas and temptations. He would be unsuccessful if the temptations had no allure or were of an obvious evil nature.  But after he begins to hold us captive, even obvious wrongs fail to bring about a conscience choice to do what is right and according to God’s will.

These are important considerations when we analyze the development of relationships not ordained or sanctified by God.  Many pay no attention to the fact that God has not authorized or approved same-sex relations in any verse of his Holy Word to us.  How dangerous it is to depart from His instruction.  Many boldly declare a self truth to preside where God gives no such sanction. Feelings associated with self indulgence tempt and call the individual to disregard truth. Instead of a theology based in God’s Word, a gay theology is developed based on what feels natural and seems right. Unbelief is transformed into self belief.

Not only is there no support for same sex relationships, but there are numerous cautions where God has provided documentation of His disdain for same sex relationships.

In reverence, humility and honor to our heavenly father and creator, how dare we take it upon ourselves to seek to outsmart His Holy Word and clear guidance to us for the purpose that bring no glory to God, but elevates self based on desires and unholy passions.

Immediately in Genesis, God tells us in Genesis 2:24 that “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh.”  Every reference in God’s Word regarding a matrimonial union,  is that of a relationship between a man and a woman.

While we are plagued with a sinful nature, we must recognize such a nature and submit ourselves to God, letting the Holy Spirit transform us and live within us.

The only identity safe to claim, is that of a child of God. Sons and daughters of God who He has redeemed and promises to guard us and hold us close if we will submit our will to Him and continuously abide in Him. This is a matter of life and death. Yet today there are millions who are blinded by their selfish desires instead of let God influence our desires and draw us to holiness.

God is not going to repeat this lesson to the universe. He is being patient with us and giving us every opportunity to see what happens when someone thinks their knowledge and ideas are better than God’s.  Therefore… in the end, it is not difficult to understand why Satan and all who possess like traits; (self indulgence) must be destroyed. They would not be safe individuals to take to heaven. Their disagreement or dissatisfaction with God would only result in another Lucifer-like situation.

I urge you, especially if you are confused or recognize that you may very well have been deceived to “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”  James 4:7

Your Personal Quest

Posted by on January 14, 2011  |  No Comments

It is no doubt frustrating to you as it is to me when in conversation someone is relaying a strong point of view and the words spoken are “well…that’s what he/she said.”  Especially when it has to do with someone so important as a belief that shapes someones life and their relationship with their maker.

Now … It’s very important to hear from various individuals with varied experiences and personal testimonies. But to gain your own personal knowledge and conviction, it will take time and a devoted interest in your own personal search for truth. Never without asking God’s guidance before you begin.

Even as a child I relied on the words and experience of  someone else without seeking or verifying truth for myself.  As a believer in Christ, I have a responsibility to myself to personally aquaint myself with my heavenly father. As I go about studying and taking time each day reading and communicating with Him, my walk grows closer. I recognize where He is leading. I’m aware of statements and actions that are not based on fact.

Jesus is very real. But you won’t know that unless you take time to experience Him right down to a one on one relationship. Unfortunately many wait until they are in a dire crisis before calling upon God. And this after using Him as a curse word or blaming Him for all the negativity in ones life.  But when people find out they are dying or are in circumstances with bleak outcomes, they suddenly look to an outside force to call upon to hasten to their immediate need.  Jesus wants to be part of your everyday life. Every moment of your life.

I challenge you to study or simply begin to read His Word to you each day and invite Him in to lead and guide you. Ask Him to reveal truth to you. He will not hold back. Sometimes this is the fear that many have. They don’t want to see or know the truth. They want to live as they want to live and fabricate their own truth.

Place a higher value on your life. In the end, God only will be your judge. Only He knows what you accept as truth He has revealed to you or truth you personally rejected.

Consider the topic of this blog; Homosexuality. Their are many theories available to consider. Do you know which ones are derived from God’s Word and which ones are not?  Do you limit what God can do in your life because you’re afraid that it might not be what you want it to be?  Many will bend God’s Word around their cherished sin. Many will explain away the true meanings of His Word in order to bring adaptation in closer alignment with the world. Jesus asks for us to come apart from the world.

Know that the majority of the world is heavily influenced by Satan and his plans of deception. This is the great controversy at hand. Will Jesus conquer or will Satan be successful in deceit?  You won’t know unless you make it a priority to be led by the Holy Spirit and commit your life to Him regardless of what He desires for you.

Could it be that He commands you to come apart from the world and to live a life not comfortable to self, but in allegiance to truth. Could it be that whatever pain and suffering you endure here during this short life on earth, will be greatly rewarded because you choose to let Him reign in your life instead of self?

As each year passes, we know we are closer to the end. We know that indulgences influenced by Satan will take a stronger hold on those who don’t care to make it a personal quest to experience and explore truth. That is why it is the few that will be rewarded for their trust and faith. Not the majority.  Wake up! Don’t be laxidasical.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 1:4

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

May God bless you in your personal quest.

Old Patterns & New Creations – Claim identity in Jesus

Posted by on January 1, 2011  |  10 Comments

Psalm 51:10     “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
From reading my posts, most of you have discovered that I do not advise choosing a new life in Jesus Christ, while maintaining an old label. In other words. Making an adamant statement about who you really are at heart. Or how you came into the world, but not accepting a new title once you recognize the need for change and redirection.
Holding onto a gay identity after accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, is pretty much an insult to Jesus. When you accept the New Creation He has given you in being baptized or re-baptized, you, my friend are no longer anchored in your past. You have a new identity as a New Creature in Jesus Christ.  2 Corinthians 5:17.
To date, my experience regarding those who maintain their gay/homosexual orientation/identity, actually has served as a crutch, an excuse, a right, and a declaration of unwillingness to change.  One such individual told me that “It’s just too bad, God is going to have to realize I need a little self gratification once in a while.”  Another told me that he is going to continue to identify as gay, because there is no way he is going to be drawn to or made available for a female. These declarations to me, say that one is unwilling to let God change them. It says that a wall is being put up. If we are truly converted, should God bring about change, we should allow Him to lead and guide in our lives as He sees fit.
I’m frequently asked if I think that I will every marry. I actually don’t. It’s the furthest thing from my mind. But I am not going to claim a gay identity as a warning sign to every female or heterosexual I encounter.  When God reached my heart and I turned it over to Him, it was suggested that I didn’t need to become heterosexual, but that God could lead me to the one individual of the opposite sex who God may place in my life. At the same time this individual encourages converts to identify with their past as a gay or homosexually oriented Christian. It would seem to me by encouraging one to claim this identity, it would act as a barrier for the very possibility that was presumed possible.  Confusing at the very least.
Today those who have never allowed gays and homosexuals into their church circles, have so much to learn. Not only is it a blessing and an ongoing transformation that the new soul won to Jesus experiences, it should be one as it is with all God’s Children. Identifying in Him, instead of in sin.
We are all sinners, but we don’t go about identifying as the kind of sinner we are. IE: an adulterous Christian, an alcoholic Christian, a gossip oriented Christian… etc.. you get the idea. Part of the victory is in identifying in the New Creature God has given us. Old things are passed away.
Change is a product of the acceptance of Jesus. As we grow closer to Him, the by-product is automatically some expression of change. Expectation is another matter. If  others expect you to change into something such as a “straight” identity, that is something that needs to be clarified in them. God works in every individual differently. We will all be unique in Him, not lumped in to some socially acceptable changed individual.
By recognizing the truth about God’s displeasure in homosexuality, realizing and claiming our new identity in Him will bring Him joy and will serve as healing in our own lives.
I would caution those who try to fashion God with a worldly identity. Some seek to make their website or their draw to the sinner in such a way that it will pull in unlikely souls, who with familiarity might linger longer.  To me this is like designing a web site for heterosexuals who have sexual struggles with stripper poles on the borders and a header that has a flashing sign that says, “Jesus inside.”
We don’t need to dress the message of God’s love and truth up in worldly attire to draw those genuinely seeking His love and truth. That to me, is limiting the power of the Holy Spirit.
In reality there is plenty to remind me of my old nature without labeling myself as a homosexual to remind me. But my new hope is in Jesus. Planted in my mind are the acts and sinful decisions and behaviors of all that has occurred up until my giving myself over to Jesus Christ.
Daily, thoughts and mental triggers try to resurface and regain control in my life. These thoughts in themselves obviously do not constitute sin, but they are an immediate alert that I need to surrender myself to Jesus and seek the purity given by the Holy Spirit.   “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2   Instead of giving into temptaion, practice self-denial.
As I mentioned in the previous post, there is a human effort, a responsible choice we make, that when exercised, the power of Jesus Christ strengthens us.   I spent many many years making bad decisions and practicing sinful behavior that stole the allegiance and obedience that belonged to Christ.
Today and every day I begin by inviting Christ to be in control of my life. I ask for Him to cover me with the blood He shed for me and protect me from Satan and his angels. I ask God to take my life if it ever appears that I am going to be drawn away from Him. Back to a lifestyle that certainly did not glorify God no matter how much “wholesome” paint anyone tries to cover it with.
Then… I take Jesus with me. I communicate with Him as I go about my daily duties. I involve in all aspects of my life, because I am not safe for a moment without Him. Since I get up at 4:00 AM each day, I wait until I return home to have my study time with God. By continually feeding off of His Word, He draws me into a closer and far more personal relationship with Him than I have ever experienced. By communing with God, we learn more about what He asks of us and we are much more perceptive about what He imparts to us.
After a time in study and contemplation, it is then time to call out to God and share our concerns, praises and prayers for those we have burdens for on our hearts.   It is in this kind of communication, devotion and constant abiding and surrendering to Him that any man or woman can find safety and assuredness.
My prayer is that those I seek to share with, understand what God calls us to and what He asks us to leave behind.  There are those who fear that there might be some presumed cure for homosexuality and that if we don’t identify with the sinfulness of who we really are, we won’t be able to live up to the expectation of who we should be.
We are all sinners. God directs us to claim His healing and our new identity in Him. It is a daily process. No one in a church is qualified to provided us with a report card. Only Jesus can judge. By imparting knowledge and acting as helpers and servants of God, we can minister and bring up to a dying World. Don’t limit God, just reflect His love, His mercy, grace and forgiveness.  Win a soul to Jesus today!
“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil,
Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
“ Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the LORD,

“ Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.   Isaiah 1: 16-18
