On The Battlefield

Posted by on June 23, 2010  |  No Comments

Many proclamations of truth do not hold “feel good” results. As we get closer to the end of this deteriorating world, keep that in mind when you are communicating with people.

Pastors have a unique burden to spiritually feed people and leave those who are listening with feelings that motivate thought and stir a desire to examine self asking ourselves if we are really adhering to God’s instructions for us.

The gospel is beautiful, compelling, loving and should generate desire from within to honor and obey. While it is never our place to judge one another, we should not be shy to expose and stress the importance of do His will instead of our own.

Watered down theology can often fill an hour or two of church; leaving it’s members no more inspired than when they began to warm they seat they sat in for the service. Much like following a routine rather than glorifying the Christ they serve.

Find ways to share the glory of God. Often I find in share what God has taught me with someone, it has just been a seed that is planted and then the Holy Spirit waters it and brings about conviction.

Church is not a place to come to promote and exercise rights; but rather a sanctuary where we glorify God and learn about what is righteous according to our heavenly designer.

We are on a battlefield. Our lives are being fought for by good and evil. It is so very important for us to consider what and who is having influence over us. Are we ready to be taken to Heaven today? Is my life simply in a pause mode vacillating between what self enjoys?  Or am I preparing for my eternal home and enhancing the relationship with my maker?  How does my life reflect Him?  Do I stand apart from the world or do I just appear to be doing time on this earth without any distinctive commitment to Jesus Christ?

How do you go about preparing for your new home?

At War With The World

The importance of the quality of time we spend with our Loving Heavenly Father should come as a frequent reminder.

When you find your daily schedule is filled from morning til night, ask yourself where you have put Jesus?  Significant, quality time with our maker should be what guides us in all our actions and activities. If we dont’ know our God, how can we serve Him out of love and honor?

He asks that we mediate and pray with Him.  He promises He will provide what we ask in His name. Consider the power of prayer. The Holy connection you personally have with the Creator of the universe. He hears your every thought and word.

Be assured that His answers are in His timing. That He hears you and never forgets you. All of our lives are woven with so many unique threads, experiences, trials and praises.

Be a prayer warrior and hold up those you love. Pray for the Holy Spirit to touch their hearts. Pray for your loved one who may be immersed in a gay lifestyle. Satan holds many captive without much of a fight, if we don’t exercise our communication with the one who has power to influence and guide. Don’t give up. That precious individual has until their dying breath to make a decision for Christ. There is so much strength and power in prayer.

I’m living proof of that. My experience and testimony will provide evidence of a patient and loving God.

Try not to rush through your time with God. He loves and care for you and wants so much to be involved with every moment of the day He has given you. You will be amazed at the blessings He pours out.

If you are same-sex attracted, know that power and strength is in every moment of your surrender to Jesus.

If you are a loved one who is praying for someone who is gay or same-sex attracted, invite them to church. Invite them to a meal in your home. Invite them to share their life experiences. Share yours with them. Let the power of Jesus fill the room and the hearts of those you hold so very dear to you. God loves all of us and wants us to minister one to another.

Remember to treat someone who is different than you with the same respect you want. We all are broken spirits in need of healing.

Now more than ever is a time for spiritual warfare.  Let God’s love touch you and someone you come in contact with today.

Do you have an answer to prayer to share?

Pro-Gay Theology…Does it…

…have holes?

From as early as I can remember, I liked guys.  It felt natural. It was the way I was born. So … If I was born that way, doesn’t it mean it has to be right? Isn’t that how God made me?   If God made me that way, how dare I change it. Right?

I found myself believing this concept for … well pretty much my whole life.  The church could give me no explanation; only correction. Stop sinning!  That just wasn’t good enough for me. If they couldn’t explain how I could be this way from pretty much birth, how could they say this is my fault?  No one began to peel away the layers of sin and provide explanation for my condition. A condition I only found condemnation for in God’s Word.

So, no explanation?   I’m outta here. I’m off to the loving, open arms of the gay community. Anything goes. We love you for who you are. Well… not really love. There was always that judgmental portion about whether you were cute enough for sexy enough. There was a "fitting in" kind of code. Even the gay community could make you feel ostracized. But generally you could find your comfortable niche.

I attended gay churches and investigated groups like SDA Kinship and found that deep inside; the truth I knew, put there by God; was being conveniently distorted. A different, more self oriented theology began to emerge.  It didn’t seem right to me at all and I stopped trying to find a church.  I just kept living a deviated lifestyle.  There was committed relationship here and there. But no committed relationship was Christ centered. It was self centered.

God makes several references to homosexuality in His Word. One is found in Leviticus 18:22. NIV “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.”  Then in Leviticus 20:13 it says, “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is destestable. They must be put ot death; their blood will be on their heads.”

I have always had the opinion that our God is a loving God. He does not have secrets and does not make it difficult for us to understand His plan for us.

Then in the new testament, God provides some very clear cautions. Romans 1:24 says;  “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity of the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised. Amen.”  Wow!  Does it get any clearer?

I’ll refer to original sin again. The apple was beautiful. The temptation was forceful. The lie was fatal.

So here we have God’s Word with His clear warnings and promised results, telling us not to even toy with this idea of playing around with the original plan God set forth for man. Yet because of our sinful nature and the strong and forceful temptation to act outside of what we know to be truth, we are going to let self guide instead of Christ?  Is it worth it?  Is it important for me to develop a comfort level for being who I am on this earth only to miss out on enternity?

Well… some will say,  You have it all wrong. God wants us to be happy. He wants us to have a companion. It doesn’t matter if it is a male or female as long as we worship Him. Isn’t important to do His will by worshiping Him, instead of my will?  Some pro-gay theologies state that it is okok outside of God’s Word to other scholars, because Jesus didn’t know much about homosexuals, because He never lived around them. So we are helping Him out. to add to or lo

When I discovered this philosphy being adopted by those claiming to believe in God, I was shocked. If we believe that God knows the beginning from the end; if we believe He knows all things, including what is best for us, would He hide from us important facts about fulfilling love and commitment and companionship in our lives?  I don’t think many believe this is the kind of God we serve and would want to serve for eternity. What else might He be hiding from us?

Revelation 22:18-19 says it clearly. “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.”

That doesn’t make me feel like rearranging things. It doesn’t make me feel like using my words to tell someone what God really wants, when He has clearly stated it in His plan as outlined in His Word.

Are you comfortable promoting, configuring or believing in a gay theology?

It seems to me that in this modern age, we have become accustomed to how the world acts and responds. We have lowered our expectations. We fail to see the Holy sacred importance of living according to God’s plan. Same-sex attracted individuals feel miserable if they think that they are called to celibacy or unable to locate a companion of the opposite sex that they have special feelings for. But this is no different than the heterosexual male or female who has not been drawn to that special companion. We are all called to celibacy except when God in His divine power leads us to one whom we may share a unique and ordained relationship.

God’s plan and His laws are far superior to any plan or desire of man.

What are your thoughts?

What percentage of your day is consumed by the world?  How much of your day is devoted to your personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

Particularly in this current age of high tech living, the distractions of the world are the worst they have been since creation. Satan’s hand of deceit is mighty. He appeals to every sense and tries desperately to crush the mental recognition of the need for a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.

Does this sound fanatical to some of you? It shouldn’t. The appeal of this world is out of balance. Only a small significant percentage pay tribute to the blessings provided by our heavenly father.  Most of us are programed on sensory overload. We’re afraid we’re going to miss out on the next gadget that can do more than the first. We want the car that does all but drive itself. We want the largest in home theatre screen with the highest definition …even to the point of 3D now, that will captivate and destroy the precious time we should be using to communicate with our Savior.

All of these things can move us further from the valuable knowledge and experience that is offered to those who will take time to study and pray over their personal destiny on this earth and importance of the relationship we cultivate with our creator.  By not cultivating this relationship we sacrifice idle time to Satan.  We nearly unknowingly provide himwith honor and dedication.  Just as he desires.

In order to grow, to know right from wrong, to be blessed with forgiveness and acceptance and growth in truth; we must open His Word and commune with Him. If we spend time with Him, He will dwell in us. Our soul purpose on earth should be to grow in knowledge and truth and be dedicated to sharing it with those who are in need of recognizing that Christ offers salvation to all.

The world is a danger if we are not aware of our need for Christ. The devil’s play ground is full of self indulgence. Pleasuring ourselves instead of dedicating ourselves to the ministry of  Jesus to a world that is quickly disintegrating.

I challenge you to begin a new type of relationship with Jesus.  There are many regimented styles to engage in personal study if you don’t know exactly how to go about developing a regular course of spiritual communication. One very effective style is through Doing Life Together – Life Journaling. This is a highly effective way of studying God’s word with others who are studying the same thing at the same time. Then sharing with each other as to how God speaks to you through His Word.

Pray and ask God for guidance from the Holy Spirit as you open His Word and spend time with Him. Listen to how He speaks to your heart and be amazed at the education and communion He provides you. Grow each day to be drawn to Him and to Holiness. Learn to separate yourself more from the world and make sacrifices for Christ. Acknowledge truth and ask for God to help you adapt your life to His will instead of our own.

It is not, nor was it designed to be easy. A walk with Christ is one of continual self-denial. But that is for a heavenly purpose. A purpose that God will reveal to you as you study and pray with Him. He blesses, He listens, He knows your heart, your ups and downs; everything that concerns you concerns Him.   There is suffering and pain. But it is never without His nearness. Never without His guidance when you are in submission to Him.

Don’t be consumed by the fleeting and destructive pleasures of the world. The world will pass. But in your commitment and dedication to Jesus Christ, you have eternity to live in the home where heartache and pain no longer exist, and where the source of temptation and demise will have been destroyed for eternity. No longer able to touch or distress you in any way.

Freedom at last … in Jesus Christ.   It seems so far away and so close … all at the same time.    Rededicate your life to Him. He loves you so very very much!
